Mangaluru: People's representatives from the coastal district expressed condolences on the death of former Union minister and chief minister SM Krishna.
Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta said that the state and the nation lost a great leader, who made an unparalleled contribution to development. "SM Krishna was an exemplary and visionary leader whose administrative prowess set a benchmark. He elevated Bengaluru to global prominence by establishing it as the IT-BT hub of the world. His demise is an irreparable loss to the entire country," he said.
Stating that SM Krishna's political journey, administrative skills, vast experience, and visionary thinking were truly inspiring and exemplary, Capt Chowta said that Karnataka and the nation lost a true statesman, and it is an irreplaceable loss.
Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala dharmadhikari and Rajya Sabha MP D Veerendra Heggade expressed grief over the death of SM Krishna and said that the state witnessed overall development during his tenure as the CM. An able statesman and seasoned politician, he presented an efficient administration during his tenure as the Karnataka CM, Maharashtra governor and Union minister of external affairs. A devotee of the Dharmasthala shrine, SM Krishna participated in several programmes in the temple, Heggade said.
The Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) expressed condolences. "SM Krishna's service as a state and central minister and as CM was unparalleled. As a statesman-like politician, he was without enemies. His foresight, disciplined life, courteous behaviour, and scholarly nature served as a model for aspiring politicians, and his contributions to the state are unforgettable," DCC president K Harish Kumar stated.
Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath described him as a simple and virtuous politician admired by all. The MLA recalled that during his tenure as the CM, SM Krishna introduced several innovative reforms and played a significant role in the state's development. "His contributions extended beyond Karnataka, as he served the nation, leaving an indelible mark on Indian politics. Krishna's journey and his exemplary work are an inspiration and a guide for all," he added.
