Krishnagiri: Members of the Tamil Nadu Milk Producers' Association (TNMPA) held a protest with milch cows, over rising production costs, in front of the Aavin office in Uthangarai on Monday. Similar protests were held across the state.
Annamalai Lenin, district secretary, TNMPA said, "The cost of producing one litre of milk has increased from 36 to 65. However, the state government has been providing only 38 per litre for cow milk and 47 per litre for buffalo milk, since December 2023." He added that the cost of fodder has surged by 60%, while labor expenses have also doubled compared to previous years.
Protesters urged the state government to raise the price by at least 10 per litre for both cow and buffalo milk.
