NEW DELHI: Shiv Sena (UBT) on Tuesday accused the BJP-led central government of ducking discussion on the plights of the Hindu minority community in Bangladesh.
"A discussion on atrocities on Hindus is not allowed in Parliament and the proceedings are being stalled by the BJP over George Soros," it claimed.
In its daily "Saamana", the Uddhav Thackeary's party called BJP's Hindutva "politically transactional, selfish and hypocritical".
Highlighting the 'batenge to katenge' (divided we perish) poll call of the BJP and its approach to seek a major overhaul of the Waqf Act, the Uddhav Sena said the saffron party brings up such issues to instil fear in the minds of Hindus.
"A discussion on atrocities on Hindus is not allowed in Parliament and the proceedings are being stalled by the BJP over George Soros," the Uddhav Sena's newspaper claimed.
It further alleged that the ouster of the Sheikh Hasina government did not bother the BJP as it could not contest elections in the neighbouring nation.
Hindu outfits are organising demonstrations in West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra over the situation in Bangladesh, but leaders of the BJP or its allied organisations are nowhere to be seen in these protests, the editorial claimed as per news agency PTI.
The party also defended its take on Hindutva, saying those who questioned the Uddhav Sena's Hindutva principles after its defeat in Maharastra should seek an answer from the BJP as to what the ruling party has done for Hindus being subjected to atrocities in Bangladesh.
For the saffron party, issues like the Sambhal mosque and Ajmer Sharif dargah were more important, the editorial further said.
