Jamshedpur: Meanwhile, DGP Anurag Gupta has announced a significant decline in left-wing extremism (LWE) across the state and said only minimal extremist activities remained.
According to the DGP, security forces have successfully controlled 95% of Naxalite-related incidents. "About 95 percent of the Naxalite related activities have been controlled and the remaining 5% is centred in the West Singhbhum district. Anti-naxal operations are going on and we will get 100% control over Naxalism soon," he stated during a media interaction following a review meeting at the Chaibasa police headquarters on Sunday.
During his first visit to the district after the new govt's formation, the DGP instructed police officials to strengthen operations against cadres of CPI (Maoist) and PLFI. He emphasised identifying and acting against individuals who secretly provide support to these groups.
"The law abiding citizens should get the deserved respect and those who break the law should be disciplined. We need to know who are our friends and who are our enemies," Gupta told the officials present.
The DGP issued directives to ensure that citizens are not troubled by police personnel. He advised building relationships with villagers, traditional village leaders and maintaining regular contact with the local press to better understand the regional law and order issues.
Additionally, he instructed the SP to reassign those junior officials who have served extended periods in extremist-affected police stations.
Senior officials attending the meeting included the IG of CRPF (Jharkhand sector), DIG CRPF, IG (Chhotanagpur range), IG (operations), DIG Kolhan range, and SP West Singhbhum among others.
