Dhanbad: IIT (ISM) Dhanbad celebrated its 99th foundation day on Monday where Jharkhand governor Santosh Gangwar attended as the chief guest.
The institute director Sukumar Mishra, deputy director Dheeraj Kumar, deputy commissioner Madhavi Mishra, and rural SP Kapil Chaudhary were present. Notable attendees included Coal India chairman P M Prasad and Durgapur-Burnpur SAIL director Vijender Pratap Singh.
During the ceremony, the governor presented awards to distinguished alumni and received a commemorative memento from the institution. In his address, he highlighted the institution's historical contribution to national development and encouraged greater participation of women in mining.
The governor praised the institution's significant contributions to the mining sector and urged students to maintain focus on their studies. The event witnessed participation from faculty members, students, and various dignitaries, marking another milestone in the institution's prestigious journey.
