Nagpur: Local schools are actively reaching out to parents, seeking their consent to register students for the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (Apaar) ID, a system introduced under the central government's ‘One Nation, One Student ID' programme. This initiative, aligned with the National Education Policy 2020, aims to streamline academic records and enhance transparency in the education sector.
Schools are tasked with providing Apaar IDs to students, after verifying their details, and updating demographic and academic records in the Unified District Information System for Education Plus (Udise+). They are also responsible for the initial creation and authentication of the Apaar IDs, and ensuring their accurate and timely integration into the education system.
The Apaar ID, a unique 12-digit code, also integrates with the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC), enabling students to accumulate, transfer, and redeem academic credits across institutions. The ABC system allows for seamless credit transfers and tracks academic achievements, providing flexibility for students pursuing diverse educational paths.
Educational institutions use Apaar IDs to access and verify students' academic histories for purposes such as admissions, credit transfers, and recruitment. The system also facilitates the efficient management and updating of academic records, reducing instances of duplication or error.
Once generated, the Apaar ID is linked to the student's DigiLocker account, a digital storage platform where students can access their virtual Apaar ID card in the ‘Issued Documents' section. This ensures secure and centralized access to records, including scorecards, certificates, degrees, and co-curricular achievements.
Parents in Nagpur are being encouraged to provide their consent promptly so their children can benefit from this system. The initiative is expected to simplify academic processes and create a standardized framework for educational record-keeping across the country.
