Varanasi: Expecting the arrival of around 10 crore pilgrims and tourists in Varanasi during the Maha Kumbh-2025, the Police Commissionerate of Varanasi has decided to create outposts on every 5 km on each route for the convenience of the visitors.
These outposts will be staffed by male and female officers to assist pilgrims and will offer facilities like drinking water, first aid boxes, basic medicines, and other amenities.
Commissioner of Police Mohit Agrawal on Sunday reviewed the preparations for security, traffic, and other arrangements for Maha Kumbh and issued necessary guidelines. The CP instructed the officials that plans should be made and implemented in a timely manner to ensure smooth traffic, crowd management, security, and law and order for the pilgrims and visitors during Maha Kumbh.
The tourist police will act as guides for the pilgrims and the temple staff will also be provided training for good conduct, he said. The CP said that special monitoring will be done on social media to prevent rumours during the grand religious fest, and legal action will be taken against those spreading rumours. ‘Lost and Found Centres' will be established at key locations like railway stations, temples, and bus stations and special security arrangements will be made for women, elderly, and differently-abled, he added.
Senior police officials from Varanasi Commissionerate provided updates on their preparations. Additional Police Commissioner for Law and Order, S Channappa, along with all deputy commissioners and other officials, were present at the review meeting.
