Prayagraj: To enhance the spiritual and cultural splendor of city ahead of Maha Kumbh, seven ancient ghats along Yamuna and Ganga will be restored to their pristine glory before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Dec 13, showcasing Prayagraj as a beacon of Sanatan culture and heritage.
Since the ghats are central to the activities of devotees visiting Maha Kumbh, the state government has undertaken the significant initiative to give the ghats a facelift.
The Construction and Design Division of Jal Nigam is leading the project. Project manager Rohit Kumar Rana said the rejuvenation work, costing Rs 11.01 crore, is nearing completion and will be ready by Dec 11.
The seven ghats are Balua Ghat, Kalighat, Rasulabad Ghat, Chhatnag Ghat Jhunsi, Nageshwar Ghat Jhunsi, Mauj Giri Ghat and Purana Arail Ghat.
The mela administration is prioritizing top-notch facilities for the visitors. To enhance the experience, the ghats are undergoing beautification efforts alongside the development of green belts to ensure cleanliness and visual appeal.
