Lucknow: Sanjeet alias Ranjit, who sustained severe burns in a gas explosion at an illegal gas facility in Adarsh Nagar, Malhapur, on Friday, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the Trauma Centre, KGMU, on Sunday.
Soomnath Vishwakarma (22) along with Sanjeet, Rohit Gupta (son of Sushil Gupta), and Ranjit, worked at Rohit Gupta's gas facility in Murdapur Tikra. On Friday, around 7:30 pm, an explosion at an unauthorised gas facility severely injured Soomnath Vishwakarma and Sanjeet. Both were immediately admitted to the Trauma Centre, KGMU, Lucknow, where Sanjeet passed away on Sunday, while Soomnath's condition remained critical.
SHO Dubbagga, Abhinav Verma, said that an FIR under the charges of BNS 287 (negligent conduct with fire or combustible substance) has been registered against Rohit Gupta and others, and a probe is ongoing.
On Saturday, sub-inspector Ram Sewak Rana and constable Manoj Kumar were suspended for neglecting the illegal gas refilling operation in Dubagga, which led to a cylinder explosion on Friday. Six people, including two children, were injured.
A case was also registered against seven individuals, including Rohit Gupta, for illegal gas activities by the district supplies officer.
