Panchkula: A Sector 19 resident has accused a travel agency of duping him to the turn of Rs 14 lakh.
Victim Mahender Singh said he was defrauded while trying to secure his son Suresh Kumar’s travel to Germany.
According to Singh’s complaint, the scheme was initiated by Sahil, a friend of his son, who introduced him to agents Happy and Bittu from a tour & travels firm.
Sahil assured Singh that Bittu and Happy would facilitate Suresh’s journey for Rs 12 lakh. Following several meetings, Singh handed over Rs 12 lakh in installments, believing that his son would be sent to Germany as promised.
On October 2, 2023, Singh sent his son abroad. However, after arriving in Dubai, Suresh was instructed to stay in a hotel and subsequently moved to Morocco and Belarus, where he continues to be stuck. Despite Singh’s repeated requests for updates, the agents have failed to return with his son, he added.
He has urged the authorities to take action against the accused agents. Police have registered a case.
