Vadodara: Vadodara-based artist Govind Vishwas was invited to represent India at the prestigious Busan International Art Fair 2024, held in Busan, South Korea. Vishwas was among the 25 Indian artists invited to the fair and was the only one from Gujarat.
The event, which serves as a unique platform to bridge Indian and Korean art and culture, was organised with the efforts of the Indo-Korean Center, Chennai, under the curation of Ashrafi Bhagat and coordination by Gail Bosser. Organised from Dec 5 to Dec 8, the art fair attracted art lovers and collectors from across the globe.
Each artist contributed two artworks to the exhibition. Vishwas, known for his unique art technique called ‘Imprito', presented two artworks — ‘Kamandal' and ‘Mysterious Line'.
‘Kamandal' symbolises the lifestyle of Hindu sages and the essence of Indian Sanatan culture, said Vishwas, adding that through this painting, he depicted kamandal not just as an object but as a profound spiritual and cultural symbol.
‘Mysterious Line' captured memories and life experiences through abstract lines. "This artwork is a symbolic medium to preserve our memories and experiences. This painting reflects the elements of Indian culture and life that define our identity," he said.
"Events like Busan International Art Fair provide Indian artists with an opportunity to present their art and culture on a global stage," he said.
