Bokaro: District transport department in Bokaro has initiated a proposal to implement camera-based online fines for rash driving at accident-prone spots. The department emphasises regular inspections of vehicle reflective tapes in line with safety protocols, with penalties for non-compliance.
On Sunday, district transport officer (DTO) Vandana Shejwalkar instructed the motor vehicle inspector to perform thorough daily inspections of school vehicles. She mandated action under the MV Act 1986 against non-compliant schools and their buses. The directive also includes regular verification of helmet usage, seat belt compliance, vehicle insurance validity and roadworthiness certificates.
The DTO has commissioned a proposal for installing Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANR) cameras at various accident-prone locations for online fine collection.
