Lucknow: A fire broke out in a matrimonial office located on the second floor of Faridi building near Halwasiya chauraha in the Hazratganj area on Saturday evening. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene, with three fire engines arriving to control the blaze.
The fire began in the office of nisbatein.com, a marriage bureau, which was closed at the time. Smoke was first noticed emanating from the office, triggering alarm within the building. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, intensifying the situation.
Upon receiving the alert, two fire engines from the Hazratganj fire station reached the location. Given the severity of the fire, a third vehicle was also called in. The team managed to bring the flames under control in about 25 minutes. However, the incident led to a temporary traffic jam as the Hazratganj police had to stop traffic to facilitate emergency operations.
CFO Lucknow, Mangesh Kumar said that the fire was likely caused by a short circuit. "Significant damage was caused to the office's furniture and electronic equipment. Firefighters faced considerable difficulty due to the thick smoke inside the office, but they managed to break open the office door and extinguish the flames. They also used ladders to access the building's windows to tackle the fire," said Kumar.
