Rourkela: Forest officials on Sunday examined a lone tusker, which has been limping in Chatam reserve forest under Rajgangpur range, for the past three days. They, however, were unable to ascertain the injury on the elephant's leg. A drone camera was also used to observe the injury, but a clear image could not be obtained.
Jasabanta Sethi, DFO, Rourkela, said they are contemplating tranquillising the animal to provide treatment.
"The forest squad has been deployed in the forest to keep a watch on the tusker. We are contemplating tranquillising the tusker, and only after that can treatment be provided," said Sethi.
