Nagpur: A zilla parishad school headmaster in Arjuni Morgaon taluka died after the mobile phone which he had kept in his shirt's pocket exploded on Friday. His kin was also seriously injured in the incident.
The deceased, Suresh Sangrame, 54, was driving a bike with kin, Natthu Gaikwad, 65, riding pillion. They were heading to Sangrigaon Tola in Sakoli in Bhandara district to attend a marriage when the incident took place shortly after they left their village Shiregaonbandh Tola.
Senior inspector Sanjay Gaikwad of Sakoli police station stated there were deep burns on Sangrame's left part of the chest and left hand. "The mobile phone had blown to pieces. The plastic cover got melted and stuck to his left arm," said Gaikwad.
"The cellphone was of a company launched a few months ago," said Gaikwad adding that Natthu sustained injuries due to the fall after Sangrame lost control following the blast. The post-mortem of Sangrame was held at the Sakoli-based govt hospital on Saturday.
Police said passers-by rushed the two to a Sakoli-based govt hospital. "Sangrame was declared brought-dead at the hospital while Natthu is under treatment," said Gaikwad.
