Kanpur: A woman was killed, while her husband suffered critical injuries after the scooter they were riding was hit by a high-speed truck on the Ramaipur-Saadh road in front of the Majhawan CHC under the limits of Bidhnu police station on Sunday. Meanwhile, their child landed on the grass, unharmed. The police took the injured couple to the CHC, where the doctor declared the woman dead.
The crowd caught the driver and handed him over to the police. Shailendra Mishra, a resident of Sanjay Gandhi Nagar in Naubasta, works in a private factory.
On Sunday afternoon, Shailendra, his wife Ritu (28), and their two-year-old son Shaurya were going to visit relatives in Saadh on their scooter. Near the Majhawan CHC on the Ramaipur-Saadh road, a speeding truck hit their scooter from behind.
The couple fell onto the road while the child was thrown onto the grass. Ritu was seriously injured after hitting her head on the road, and Shailendra also sustained a leg injury. With the help of locals, the police took the injured couple to the CHC, where the doctor declared the woman dead. Meanwhile, the crowd caught the driver, who was trying to flee, and handed him over to the police. Station in-charge Jitendra Pratap Singh stated that a report will be filed based on the complaint, and action will be taken.
