East Bengal midfielder Saul Crespo was stretchered off the field with an injury during an Indian Super League (ISL) game against Chennaiyin FC on Saturday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai.

The Spanish midfielder went down after a foul around the 56th minute mark before he was carried off the field.

Moments earlier, Crespo had set up East Bengal’s opening goal for PV Vishnu to score in the 54th minute.

The 28-year-old has featured in all ISL nine games for the Red and Golds this season and head coach Oscar Bruzon will hope it won’t be a serious injury.

East Bengal head coach Oscar Bruzon said, “Saul had a muscle pull. The preliminary scans will be done on Monday, but it looks like he is going to be for at least two weeks.”

East Bengal beat Chennaiyin to move 11th in the points table and will be hoping to capitalise on its three successive home games in the next two weeks to move up the standings.

EBFC will take on Odisha FC on Thursday at the Salt Lake Stadium.
