Rain and snowfall forecast in Uttarakhand due to the arrival of Western Disturbance

The mercury has started falling rapidly in Uttarakhand and the chill has increased from the mountains to the plains. After about two months, there are chances of rain in most areas including Doon on Sunday, December 7. Also, snowfall is expected on the peaks. Due to the activation of Western Disturbance on Sunday and Monday, most areas of the state may be cloudy with light to moderate showers.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding lightning with thunder in many districts. There are chances of a sharp drop in temperature after the rain. Due to the sudden increase in cold, doctors are also advising to wear more warm clothes and take care of food.

Cold felt very less in November

October and November remained almost dry in Uttarakhand. Not a single drop of rain fell in most areas. Due to which the weather remained dry and the temperature was also recorded above normal. This was the reason that the cold was also felt very less in November.

The weather remains dry even after the beginning of December, but now the temperature has started falling. Due to which the cold has increased from the mountains to the plains.

Fresh western disturbance active in the state

According to the Director of Meteorological Center, Bikram Singh, there are chances of fresh western disturbance becoming active in the state. Due to which there is a possibility of clouds in most areas on Sunday and Monday and light to moderate showers.

Especially Dehradun, Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar may receive showers with thunder. Apart from this, light snowfall may also occur on the peaks. Snowfall has not been recorded in the state so far in this season. Due to the change in weather, the mercury may decrease by one to three degrees Celsius in most areas of the state. There is a possibility of severe cold in the plains.
