Chandrapur: In the wake of the food poisoning incident at a Zilla Parishad school in Pardi village, Saoli taluka, BJP leader and MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar has instructed the district administration to conduct a thorough and impartial inquiry. The incident has left 106 students hospitalised after consuming khichdi served during the midday meal.
The school had served khichdi to 126 students as part of its regular meal programme on Thursday. Shortly after consumption, 106 students complained of uneasiness and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Preliminary findings indicate that the food poisoning may have been caused by contamination in the meal.
Expressing concern over the health and safety of the students, MLA Mungantiwar has directed the district collector and chief executive officer of the zilla parishad to ensure a detailed investigation to ascertain the cause of the incident. He also urged officials to personally monitor the medical care provided to the affected children, emphasising the need for swift and quality treatment.
The incident has raised serious questions about the quality of food served in the midday meal programme. Parents and local residents have demanded action on culprits and stricter measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.
