World-renowned Christian singer-songwriter and priest Fr Rob Galea arrived in Goa for the St. Francis Xavier Exposition. Expressing his admiration for the saint, Galea will perform two concerts at Bambolim stadium and celebrate Mass at Old Goa. Organized by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and Exposition committee, the concerts aim to reach a wider audience.
Panaji:Fr Rob Galea, the Maltese-Australian priest and Christian singer-songwriter, who is one of the most popular clergymen on the world stage, said on Friday that it is humbling to be in Goa for the Exposition.
“St Francis Xavier is one of the people I look up to and he is one of the greatest evangelists that ever lived,” Galea told TOI on Friday. “I feel humbled to be here, in the land that he lived and died for. I get to serve the same people at a time he’s being venerated…I’m certainly praying for his intercession so that the work he started in Jesus’ name will continue.”
Galea is in the state to perform two concerts — on Saturday and Sunday — at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim. Before that, Galea will celebrate the 6.15pm English Mass at Old Goa on Friday.
“The event is being held as part of the 18th Exposition, as the diocese has decided that no event should be done independently,” said Fr Henry Falcao, the convener of the Exposition committee.
Speaking about the concerts over the weekend, Falcao said, “They are organised by the Catholic Charismatic Renewal along with the Exposition committee. The tickets are available at every parish with the Catholic Charismatic Renewal group.”
