Chikmagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary met with Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to address the CNG shortage plaguing auto rickshaw drivers in Udupi.
UDUPI: Chikmagaluru MP Kota Shrinivas Poojary met with Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri to address the issues related to the supply of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) that affect auto rickshaw drivers in Udupi district.
Due to the shortage of CNG in Udupi district, poor rickshaw drivers and other CNG vehicle owners are struggling. Every day, vehicle owners are lining up at CNG stations for supply, the MP stated in a release.
“I requested the central govt to intervene and solve the problem during my meeting with Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. In Udupi district, there is a demand for 21,000 KG of CNG per day, but only 14,000 KG is being supplied. There are eight CNG stations in operation, and they requested approval for additional stations and orders for the related companies to meet the full CNG demand. Responding to the request, the minister instructed the concerned officials to take immediate action,” Poojary stated.
Along with MP Poojary, Uttara Kannada MP Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri was also present. It is worth noting that Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna also had asked the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to ensure a continuous supply of CNG to Udupi district. The MLA informed the ministry about the challenges encountered by auto rickshaw drivers, who had to wait in line to refuel their vehicles with CNG.
