Ranchi: Pro tem speaker Stephen Marandi, who held a meeting with top administrative officials at the Jharkhand Assembly here on Friday, said that there would be restriction on the entry of visitors during the four-day special session beginning Monday.
"Though most of the proceedings of the house would remain the same, we have decided to restrict the entry of visitors during the opening session of the Sixth Jharkhand Assembly to ensure that everything proceeds smoothly," he told the media persons after the meeting of the press advisory committee.
Chairing a meeting with the top civil and police administration of the state, Marandi directed the chief secretary to ensure timely attendance of all department heads during the proceedings of the house. He directed the DGP for proper deployment of security inside and outside the assembly premises. "Since many of the legislators have been elected for the first time, there are chances that they would be accompanied by their supporters, but we have instructed the security to ensure that no one without a valid pass issued by the assembly secretariat enters the campus. This is being done for the security of all concerned," Marandi said.
Directives were issued to the electricity and drinking water department to maintain uninterrupted power and water supply in and around the assembly premises during the session, while assembly security has been asked to check passes and ID cards before allowing entry. Marandi said that the assembly staff and those accompanying the MLAs with valid passes have been directed to display their ID cards so that there is no scope for unauthorised entry.
The first session of the sixth Jharkhand assembly would have four business days beginning Monday. On the first day, the pro tem speaker would administer the oath to all 80 MLAs, following which the MLAs would elect a regular speaker the next day. "Once the speaker is elected, the governor would be invited to address the members the next day, following which the govt would table a supplementary demand of grants. The four-day session will conclude with a vote of thanks on the governor's speech on Thursday," Marandi said.
