Mahakumbh Mela: Devotees attending Maha Kumbh-2025 will get to relish delicious dishes of differnet regional cuisines at the grand food coutrt being set up here on the mela campus.
Thalis of different regions like Avadhi, Banarasi, Marwari, Gujarati, South Indian and Jain thalis apart from various types of khichdi, and even Baati Chokha will be served to the devotees visiting the grand fair. Focussing on the local satvik food for the pilgrims, it will be ensured that food of all tastes is offered at the stalls here.
The Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (UPSTDC) is going to develop a grand food court on the mela premises for offering good quality and delicious dishes of diferent cuisines at one place for Kumbh visitors.
The corporation has identified a plot of about 25,000 square feet in Parade ground and near the Civil Lines Church for the establishment of the food court. This fair will be held in Sector 1 of the area in the Parade ground near Ganga Pandal and the tourism department's tent colony. Twenty-five food stalls, each 15 feet long, will be set up here. An agency has been assigned the task for setting up the food court and establishment and operation of various food stalls here.
While Maha Kumbh Mela will formally commence on Jan 13, 2025, with Paush Purnima Snan Pavan, these food courts will start operating in advance. They will be kept operational round-the-clock providing food, sweets, tea, drinking water, and other essential items to the devotees and visitors. The proposed validity period for the operation of these food stalls has been fixed at 180 days.
At this food court, devotees will be served local food, sweets as well as dishes of various types of cuisine styles. Apart from local signature dishes, the food court will also offer sweets of different regions including Bengali sweets. Food outlets of national brands will also be operational here.
The food stalls will be set up on the base of a German hangar and adequate space will be provided for the devotees coming here. Focussing on the comfort of devotees adequate space will be provided along with high-quality chairs and tables for devotees to sit andenjoy their food.
