Lucknow: Accusing the BJP of targeting only the weak, Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday questioned why the BJP is not staking its claim to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar.
"I can't understand why the BJP is not focusing on Kailash Parbat, why can't it stake claim to Mansarovar. Tell the BJP people to march towards Kailash Parvat and Mansarovar and we will follow them. They (BJP) can only do injustice to the weak and touch the feet of the powerful," Akhilesh said while talking to media persons in Kanpur.
Akhilesh went on to claim that a time would come when China would not allow access to Kailash Parbat. "I am saying this on record that the time will come when China will not allow you to go to Mansarovar and towards Kailash Parbat," he said.
"This is because China has built a huge facility there to make missiles. If there is anything incorrect about what I am saying then let the BJP people point it out," the former UP CM said.
"Speaking in Parliament, I recently raised the issue of the Rezang-La memorial that has been demolished. Ask the self-proclaimed BJP nationalist about how China demolished the Rezang-La memorial on the Indian border. They will never talk about it. Ask the pseudo-nationalists in BJP to announce that they will construct the memorial again at the same spot. They will never say that," he said.
"I am sure the BJP will never talk about it because China is powerful. BJP will never say anything about Rezang-La memorial, Kailash Parbat and Mansarovar," Akhilesh said.
Attacking the UP govt for not allowing politicians to visit Sambhal, Akhilesh announced that he would soon visit the district to ensure justice to the affected families.
"I will go to Sambhal and help those who are suffering. We will do whatever it takes to provide assistance to the needy and get them justice by raising the issue in the Lok Sabha," Akhilesh said.
He questioned the govt for its complete disregard to the Places of Worship Act. "What is it that the BJP wants to dig out," he asked in apparent reference to claims that Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal was built on the remains of a temple.
