Bengaluru: BBMP, in collaboration with the state health department, is set to launch an ambitious 100-day Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness and Eradication Campaign on Dec 7, 2024. The initiative aims to intensify efforts toward identifying and treating TB cases in the city, as part of the National Tuberculosis Control Programme.
During the campaign, BBMP chief commissioner Tushar Giri Nath said, individuals testing negative for active TB through standard diagnostic methods will undergo advanced screening for latent infections using tools like Interferon-Gamma Release Assay (IGRA). Those diagnosed with latent TB will be provided TB preventive therapy to halt the progression of the disease.
