Chandrapur: Around 20 to 30 students of the Zilla Parishad School in Pardi village, under Saoli panchayat samiti, suffered food poisoning after consuming their midday meal on Thursday. The affected students, aged between 6 and 10 years, and studying in classes 1 to 4, were rushed to Saoli Rural Hospital for treatment.
The incident took when the students, after consuming the meal, began experiencing severe abdominal pain and vomiting. Some rushed home to inform their parents, who immediately took them to the hospital. A female staff member involved in cooking the meals also complained of similar symptoms.
Preliminary reports suggest the poisoning was caused by leftover food (stale food) from a day before served during the meal. This has sparked anger among parents and villagers, who accused the school administration of gross negligence. Many blamed the headmaster for failing to ensure proper food safety measures.
Speaking to reporters, Satish Bomawar, BJP taluka general secretary and Saoli municipal councillor, who visited the hospital to check on the students, expressed concern over the incident and demanded accountability.
The local police have been informed, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the cause of the incident. Meanwhile, all the affected students are reported to be stable and responding to treatment.
