Ludhiana: Activists of the Public Action Committee (PAC) filed a police complaint about illegal axing of trees at Basant Avenue police station on Thursday. The activists claimed that four trees had been cut down at a park in Basant Avenue on Thursday.
They said that a PAC member, Dr Amandeep Bains, noticed this and informed the PCR, which asked him to file a complaint with the nearest police station.
Activists raised the issue on social media and claimed that the trees had been planted by Bains and his team around 20 years ago and were fully grown now. They accused an area resident of getting the trees chopped and claimed that he had asked those who cut the trees to take the logs away.
On being questioned, Bains said that the man offered to plant a few trees to compensate the loss. tnn
