Hyderabad: A case was registered against BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy and his followers for allegedly obstructing police at Banjara Hills, threatening and abusing them. They were also charged under various sections of BNS for unlawful assembly, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance and rioting.
Around 3 pm, Kaushik Reddy came to Banjara Hills police station to lodge a complaint alleging that his phone was tapped and that chief minister A Revanth Reddy and Intelligence chief B Shivadhar Reddy were behind it.
Police said as Banjara Hills station house officer KM Raghavendra was leaving on an emergency field duty, Kaushik Reddy and his followers suddenly came near his vehicle, demanding him to get down at once and stopped the movement of his vehicle by parking another car in front of it.
Though the inspector informed them that he was on a time-bound emergency duty and that they could submit their grievance to the administration SI at the police station or wait for his return, the group instigated by Kaushik Reddy not only obstructed Raghavendra's vehicle but also allegedly abused the officer and threatened him.
As the situation was getting out of control, the SHO got out of the vehicle and called them to his office and heard their grievance. "Even inside the office, Kaushik Reddy and his followers resorted to abuses and threats to the SHO," said a cop. "Probe is on and action will be taken," said SM Vijay Kumar, DCP.
