Ranchi: A devastating fire broke out in a battery shop and adjacent commercial establishments on Lalji Hirji road near Sarjana Chowk, on Wednesday morning. The blaze, which took firefighters three hours to extinguish, caused significant damage to several shops in the building.
Local residents alerted the police after spotting flames erupting from a battery shop. Fire brigade teams reached the scene around 10:30 am and immediately began their operations. Six fire tenders from three different stations were deployed to combat the blaze.
A senior fire officer attributed the incident to a suspected short circuit. "The situation was particularly challenging due to the presence of lithium batteries in the shop, which posed a risk of explosion," he said.
