Lucknow: Police were deployed at the residence of Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra Mona, who was scheduled to accompany Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to visit the victim families in Sambhal.
Talking to reporters, she said: "It is extremely shameful and condemnable that my colleagues and I were illegally put under house arrest by the police to suppress the voice of democracy."
"Why are we being stopped by the govt from meeting the families of the victims of Sambhal violence, becoming their voice, and supporting them in their just struggle? Such repressive actions are not only a violation of constitutional rights but also an attack on the values of democracy! Every step of the struggle leads towards justice, and we will not back down from our objective. This illegal house arrest will make us move forward with more determination!" she wrote on X.
