AHMEDABAD: In an incident being called sheer negligence, a ceiling fan in AMC-managed Ghatlodia library fell on a student, injuring him on the head and a fan blade nicking him above the eye.
The 23-year-old, Priyanshu Kushwaha, received over 10 stitches for the gash. The incident took place on Wednesday at around 5pm when there were around 50 students in the library.
Following the incident, students gathered outside the library, demanding better facilities and regular cleaning. They made videos of their demands and circulated them on social media.
Priyanshu lives with his family in Sector-1 of the Chanakyapuri area near the library. His mother, Snehlata Kushwaha, said, "My son's MBA exams are scheduled from Dec 12 for which he regularly studies at the Ghatlodia library.
On Tuesday at 5pm, while he was reading in the library, the fan fell, injuring him above the eye, resulting in over 10 stitches. The library is not cleaned regularly, and fans hang precariously."
