Coimbatore: Two men were booked on Wednesday for vandalising a forest department vehicle and intimidating its staff at Chinna Kandiyur in Kemmarampalayam near Karamadai.
The incident occurred when a team of six forest department staff, led by forester Sahadevan, went to Chinna Kandiyur to arrest a poacher, S Venkatesh, 30, following a tip-off that he had hunted a wild boar.
As Venkatesh was not at his house, the team asked his wife to send Venkatesh to the forest range office once he was back.
Meanwhile, Venkatesh's father Selvaraj and their relative Karuppusamy picked up a quarrel with the team.
Karuppusamy took a stone and broke the front and rear windshields of the forest department vehicle. He also attempted to assault the staff with a stone and a sickle. The duo verbally abused the staff and threatened them with dire consequences.
Following a complaint by the forest department staff, Karamadai police registered a case and formed a special team to nab Selvaraj and Karuppusamy.
