Jaipur: Cabinet minister Kirori Lal Meena has accused state intelligence officials of attempting to damage his reputation through false reports suggesting he planned to disrupt the Rising Rajasthan investment summit and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit.
Meena met with minister of state for home, Jawahar Singh Bedham, on Wednesday to protest against police actions the previous night.
"The intelligence wing of our govt sent out a report suggesting that farmers and sanitation workers, at my behest, were planning to disrupt the ‘Rising Rajasthan' event and PM Modi's visit," minister Meena told the media, adding that it was a clear attempt to tarnish his image.
Meena claimed intelligence reports falsely suggested that farmers and sanitation workers were planning to disrupt events under his direction. He demanded action against Mahesh Nagar police station house officer (SHO) Kavita Sharma following a confrontation at student Vikas Vidhuri's residence.
The controversy arose when police visited homes of students suspected of planning protests demanding the cancellation of the Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment exam-2021, late Tuesday night.
SHO Sharma had reached Vidhuri's home in Mahavir Nagar to restrict him for staging a protest. Upon being informed of it, minister Meena arrived at the scene, leading to his argument with the SHO.
The minister demanded the release of another student, Manju Sharma, whom he spotted in the police jeep. Both students later accompanied Meena to meet Bedham.
