Goa's rainfall alert has been extended to December 6th due to a cyclonic circulation in the southeast Arabian Sea. While some areas experienced light rain on Thursday, mostly dry conditions prevailed. Temperatures ranged from 24.7°C to 33.8°C. Drier weather is expected to return from December 7th onwards.
PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) extended its rainfall alert for Goa, now warning of light to moderate rainfall likely to continue until December 6. This follows the earlier alert, which was set to expire on December 4, being revised.
The extension of the rainfall alert is attributed to the presence of a cyclonic circulation over the southeast Arabian Sea, which has now shifted and intensified over the region. This system extends up to 4.5 km above the mean sea level and is tilted southwestwards with height, contributing to the ongoing precipitation in the state.
Although parts of Goa experienced light rainfall on Thursday, the overall weather remained largely dry throughout most of the state. Mormugao recorded the highest maximum temperature at 33.8°C, while Dabolim saw the lowest minimum temperature of 24.7°C.
The IMD indicated that the weather is expected to be dry from December 7 onwards, with no significant rainfall anticipated for the coming days.
This marks a return to clearer skies after cloudy conditions caused by the current atmospheric system.
