Guwahati: Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police apprehended a drug peddler during a raid in the Navagraha Hills area.
The accused, identified as Sona Miya (40), hails from Kokila village in Bongaigaon. The operation was led by STF inspector Kapil Pathak late on Monday night.
The officer added that the accused was staying in a rented room at KK Road in Navagraha Hills. “He is a notorious drug peddler, who has been operating secretly in the city over the past year. During the search, we recovered substantial amounts of narcotic substances and few other items from his possession,” the officer told TOI.
During the raid, 214.81 grams of suspected heroin packed in 16 soap box cases were recovered from his possesion, along with cash amounting to Rs 1,06,700 and a mobile phone.
The officer added that a case has been registered at the Latasil police station under Sections 21 (B) and 27 (A) of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Seven drug peddlers arrested in Coimbatore, 8kg ganja seized
Coimbatore police dismantled a seven-member drug peddling gang and seized 8kg of ganja. The gang, led by Vinoth, procured the drug from Odisha for a low cost and sold it in the city at a high price. Several members, including Vinoth, face serious charges, and further investigations are ongoing.
