Varanasi: Demanding economic sanctions and other actions against Bangladesh to compel it to stop atrocities on minorities, especially on Hindus, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh's wing Hindu Raksha Samiti (HRS) took out a march on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum to the divisional commissioner for forwarding it to the President.
The HRS activists gathered near the Swami Vivekananda statue at Mint House, Nadesar area from where they marched towards the commissionerate. The demonstrators carried placards containing slogans like "Stop atrocities against Hindus and other minorities in Bangladesh."
Regarding the memorandum submitted to the President of India through the divisional commissioner, against the atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh and the arrest of prominent citizens and saints, HRS convenor Pramod Ram Tripathi said, "In this memorandum, we have highlighted how after the coup in Bangladesh, Hindus and other minorities are being targeted for the past four months." The continuing violence, abduction, rape, looting, arson, persecution and arrest of prominent citizens and saints in Bangladesh is making society angered and agitated, he said, adding that Bangladesh is going through a phase of political conspiracy and anarchy, during which attacks are being made on innocent minority Sanatan Hindu adherents as well as devout citizens of Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities living there. The wealth, religion and character of the Hindu society in Bangladesh are being destroyed, the memorandum said.
As the Bangladesh govt and administration are not providing any form of security to them, the Hindu community has become like an orphan society there, said HRS, mentioning, "We will make every possible effort for the safety of our Hindu brothers and sisters."
