Chennai: More than one lakh students studying in Classes III, VI, and IX in the state will appear for the national learning achievement survey on Wednesday.
Students from more than 4,400 schools will take the test, which will assess learning achievement in languages, science, and math. It will also collect information about school infrastructure, teacher quality and classroom practices.
PARAKH, an independent assessment body under the NCERT, is conducting the test. "Question paper books will be delivered to schools just before the exams. In each school, 10 to 30 students will take the test. It is expected to test their reading, comprehension, and numerical abilities," an official from the school education department said.
Students will have to shade the answers in OMR sheets. "For Classes III and VI, the test will be of 90 minutes. It will have 45 questions from language, maths, and science," the official added. For Class IX, the test will have questions from language, maths, science, and social science. The test will be conducted for 120 minutes, and the booklet will have 60 questions.
The school education department has appointed special observers to districts to ensure smooth conduct of the test. TNN
