Itanagar: A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed on Wednesday between Tawan district administration and the Indian Army regarding management of the Major Ralengnao ‘Bob' Khathing Museum of Valour, which will now be looked after the latter .
Located near the Tawang War Memorial, the museum pays tribute to Major Bob Khathing, who was instrumental in integrating Tawang into Indian territory. Major Ralengnao ‘Bob' Khathing, an Indian Army officer, led a mission in 1951 to assert India's sovereignty over Tawang, which was under Chinese influence.
His leadership ensured Tawang's incorporation into India, marking a significant chapter in the country's history. Khathing's bravery earned him recognition and posthumous honours for his contribution to national security.
The MoA was signed by Tawang deputy commissioner Kanki Darang and Brigadier VS Rajput, Commander of the 190 Mountain Brigade. The agreement ensures the museum's continued preservation and underscores its importance as a symbol of Tawang's rich history and patriotism.
The Indian Army was also thanked for their commitment and for allocating defence land for the project.
