Rohtak: Congress party’s senior member Subhash Batra on Tuesday accused Haryana’s BJP-led govt of caste discrimination and unconstitutional interference in the state’s universities that he claimed had forced two vice-chancellors to resign.
Speaking in Rohtak, the former minister criticised the recent ousting of VCs from Chaudhary Devi Lal University (CDLU) in Sirsa and Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) in Jind. He claimed that these resignations — forced shortly before the end of their terms — were “humiliating and driven by caste-based bias”. Batra said: “Ironically, both VCs were appointed during the BJP’s tenure. If their performance was unsatisfactory, the govt should have addressed it appropriately.”
