Mysuru: Chamaraja MLA K Harishgowda, who is also a member of the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) Board, on Wednesday contended that the state govt cancelled the allotment of 48 sites by a cooperative society to curb irregularities in Muda.
Speaking to reporters, he alleged that chief minister Siddaramaiah was focusing on curbing corrupt practices in Muda. "As a first step, on the directions of the CM, the Muda cancelled the allotment of 48 sites by a cooperative society. The sites were not allotted under the controversial 50:50 scheme. These sites were allotted by a resolution on March 23, 2023, by the then BJP govt. The CM has now ensured the protection of these sites, worth Rs 600 crore, through this order of cancellation," he claimed. He accused the previous BJP govt of illegally allotting these 48 sites through the cooperative society to benamis with the connivance of Muda officials.
"The Congress govt will also initiate action against the officials involved in the sanctioning of the 48 sites," he said.
"To hush up the illegality, BJP levelled false allegations against the CM and his family members in the Muda case," he claimed, adding that BJP is misleading the public over the Muda scam.
He said 1.5 lakh Congress workers will attend the Jan Kalyan Samavesha at Hassan on Thursday. "About 1,000 buses have been arranged to bring people from across the district to the meet," he said.
