Patna: A police officer, Mohammad Balal Khan (55), was suspended for allegedly harassing a 35-year-old woman in Samastipur district on Wednesday. Khan allegedly told the woman to share a bed with him to have a case against her closed. The officer, stationed at Patori police station, is on the run.
The incident occurred after the woman was accused of making viral photos of a man's family. She went to the police station where Khan called her to his private house to help with her bail. Once there, he began inappropriate behaviour, which the woman secretly recorded.
Samastipur SP Ashok Mishra said an investigation by Patori SDPO B K Medhavi found the officer guilty. "An FIR has been registered and he has been suspended with immediate effect," Mishra said.
