Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board has drawn criticism for scheduling geography and statistics exams on the same day for Class 12 general stream students.
This overlap, occurring on March 7, poses a significant challenge for students who have chosen both subjects from Group 4. The final exams for Classes 10 and 12 begin on Feb 27.
The Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh has approached the education minister regarding this matter on Wednesday. Students in the Class 12 general stream have to select three subjects from Group 4, which contains geography and statistics, potentially requiring some pupils to appear for both exams simultaneously. The minister issued directives to the relevant department following this meeting, sources said.
The delegation also sought relief for teachers from booth-level officer responsibilities. Following the online transfer camp for teachers, they proposed an offline camp to accommodate teachers with priority status for vacant positions. They also suggested providing priority benefits in the online transfer system to teachers who previously received district transfers but remained unreleased due to administrative reasons. The minister reportedly assured them to address these concerns.
