Jhansi: In a groundbreaking initiative, Bundelkhand University announced the launch of the ‘Defence Hour' initiative, a decision made in a meeting chaired by vice-chancellor Prof Mukesh Pandey. This initiative aims to educate students about the defence sector, cultivating a sense of national service, discipline and leadership amongst the youth while motivating them to join the Defence sector as a career.
The meeting was attended by university and military officers, including Prof. Sunil Kumar Kabia, NCC Commanding Officer Colonel Prashant Kakkar, Colonel Anshuman Saxena, and principal of Bundelkhand Degree College Prof. SK Rai, who unanimously endorsed the initiative's potential to guide students towards a career in the Defence services.
Scheduled monthly, the ‘Defence Hour' will facilitate interactions between students and former military officers, including the Kargil warrior, Parikshit. The beginning on December 16 will coincide with Vijay Diwas. Gunjan Saxena, the esteemed Kargil girl and former Flight Lieutenant in the Indian Air Force,will attend the event as the chief guest.
Vice-chancellor Prof Mukesh Pandey emphasising the initiatives significance, said, "This initiative will inspire students to pursue a career in the Defence sector. Through Defence Hour, we will familiarise our students with the values of national service, discipline and leadership. We are proud to be guiding the youth in the service of the nation as part of Bundelkhand University."
