Ranchi: A case has been filed with the Nagri police station here against five accused persons for molestation and taking indecent photos of a 15-year-old girl from Malda in West Bengal. The incident took place in September this year, the police said.
Police said the accused are identified as Subhendu Mandal, Shantanu Mandal, Abhishek Dutta, Arkaprava Dutta and Somnath Sharma and all of them are distantly related to the girl.
DSP (headquarters-2) Arvind Kumar said, "An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Pocso Act and the BNS. The matter is being investigated."
The girl had come to Ranchi along with her parents as her father had to appear in a law examination. The accused persons, who were neighbours, also came along to appear in the same test. All of them arrived together and stayed in the same hotel.
When her parents were away, the accused persons molested the girl and also took her photos, which later became viral. A month after the incident, the girl informed her parents about the incident. Based on a complaint, a zero FIR was filed against the accused persons in Malda which was later transferred to the Nagri police station.
