Four people, including Roshan Lal and his brother, have been arrested in New Delhi for attempting to deliver heroin worth Rs 1 crore. They were part of a larger drug trafficking network. Other members, Rohit Gusain and Dushyant Chopra, were also detained. All suspects have criminal histories and were involved in selling drugs for financial gains.
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police arrested four people in connection with a drug seizure valued at Rs 1 crore, officials said on Tuesday.
The accused have been identified as Roshan Lal, Dharambir, Rohit Gusain, and Dushyant Chopra.
DCP (Crime) Bhisham Singh revealed that the arrests followed intelligence gathered on drug trafficking activities.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid in Rohini Sector 23, where Lal (42) and his brother Dharambir (40) were intercepted while attempting to deliver heroin near an apartment.
A search of their scooter uncovered 310 grams of high-grade heroin.
Investigations revealed that Lal was actively involved in procuring and distributing heroin to consumers and other traffickers.
A habitual offender, Lal has a history of five cases under the NDPS Act and the Excise Act.
Further inquiries led to the arrest of another trafficker, Gusain (30), who is also a repeat offender with a criminal record including four cases of theft and snatching. Gusain admitted to sourcing heroin and smack from Lal, both for personal use and resale to another dealer, Chopra (34).
Chopra, known for his extravagant lifestyle and penchant for designer clothing, financed his expenses through proceeds from drug sales. He was arrested in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, while employed at a drug rehabilitation centre. Chopra, a habitual offender, has eight prior cases to his name, including robbery, snatching, and abduction.
Authorities continue to investigate the network to dismantle the wider drug trafficking operation.
