Chatra: Uday Saw, a former mukhiya and husband of the current chief of the Katkamdag block Vinita Devi, was shot dead at the high-security police line located in the heart of Hazaribag city on Monday night.
Police said Saw, a Congress worker, was killed around 9.30 pm by four men on one of the busiest roads of the city. The crime spot is only 100m away from the official residences of the DC and other senior administrative and police officials. After shooting Saw in the head, all four escaped from the spot. Saw was taken to the Hazaribag Arogyam Super Speciality Hospital but was declared dead. Doctors said Saw died due to profused bleeding.
Police said probe has started to find the motive behind the killing as Saw, according to his family members had no known enmity, and raids are being carried out to nab the killers. However, Saw was an accused in the 2019 high-profile murder of Gopal Singh, the general manager (HR) of Thriveni Sainik Pvt Limited, an outsourcing company of NTPC working in Barkagaon, in the posh Jullu Park locality of Hazaribag. He was acquitted by the court.

A 45-year-old man, Nage Yadav, was shot dead due to an old enmity near Gobrahi Canal Mor in Madhubani's Jainagar area on Monday. Nage, a Lashkaria village resident, was attending his niece's wedding. He was previously imprisoned in 2020 for murder. Police have identified the assailant and are conducting raids to apprehend him.
