Hyderabad: A Rangareddy district local court completed trial in a murder case in a record time, in a week, and delivered the judgment on Monday.
A migrant worker from West Bengal, Bimal Haidar, was murdered by his friend Renta Hermon, also from West Bengal, at Pahadishareef in Feb. Police filed the chargesheet in May. The principal district sessions court, Rangareddy, conducted the trial for a week in Oct and delivered the judgment, sentencing Renta Hermon to rigorous imprisonment for life and also imposed a fine of 500 fine.
Police said eyewitness and the forensic evidence, connecting the convict to the murder, were important in proving his role in the murder. Appreciating the evidence and also the evidence of other witnesses, the court found Hermon guilty and pronounced the verdict.
According to police, the convict and the deceased migrated to the city and were working for private firms in Tukkuguda. In Feb, after consuming alcohol together, they got into an argument over petty issues. In a fit of rage, Hermon picked up firewood and beat Haidar with it on his head and other body parts. Other workers present at the spot rushed Haidar to hospital, but he was declared dead.
The Pahadishareef police registered a murder case and arrested Hermon, seized the firewood used in the crime, and sent it for forensic analysis.
