Lucknow: A 17-year-old boy was found dead in a hostel in Hazratganj on Sunday. However, the incident came to light on Monday. The police suspect it to be a suicide.
A police team reached the scene at the third-floor room of a building owned by Shivangi Vaishya. The deceased, Anmol Kumar, was from Bihar. He was preparing for competitive exams at a coaching and was staying at the hostel.
According to fellow hostel residents, Rupesh Pandey and Sagar Pandey, Anmol's room was locked from the inside from 11-12 am. After repeated calls went unanswered, they peered through the window and found Anmol hanging from the ceiling fan. They then informed the landlord.
Upon arrival, the police notified the forensic team, which documented the scene and broke open the locked door. Police found a handwritten note in the room. Anmol's family was informed via phone, and his cousin Ragini Sharma arrived later to identify the body. The body was sent to SPIMS hospital for post-mortem examination under police supervision.
The note in Hindi, purportedly written by Anmol to his parents, expressed feelings of loneliness, pain and emotional turmoil.
