Cyclone Fengal to make landfall today afternoon between Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts
The cyclonic storm fengal is expected to move west-northwestwards and cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, close to Puducherry, on Saturday afternoon, the IMD said.

Panaji: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Goa on Dec 4, forecasting thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places. Light to moderate rainfall is expected to continue across the state on Dec 5.
This was a result of a well-marked low pressure area, the remnants of cyclonic storm Fengal, located over coastal Karnataka and the adjoining east-central Arabian Sea. The low pressure system was also expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to isolated areas in north Kerala and coastal Karnataka.
In addition to the rainfall warning for Goa, the IMD also warned of squally weather along the Goa coast, with wind speeds ranging from 35 to 45 kmph, gusting up to 55 kmph. Fishermen were advised to avoid venturing into the southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea, as well as the waters off Goa’s coast during this period.
On Tuesday, parts of Goa experienced light to moderate rainfall, resulting in cooler temperatures throughout the day. The maximum temperature dropped to 30°C, which was a departure from normal by three degrees celsius. However, the weather is expected to be dry from Dec 6 onwards, the IMD forecast stated.
