Mangaluru: A youth was murdered in Kadaba police station limits. The deceased is Sandeep, 28. Meanwhile, police arrested the accused, Supreeth, aged around 25.
Dakshina Kannada SP Yathish N said that the victim was missing on Nov 27. He used to take up work related to putting up shamiyana. On Nov 30, a missing case was registered. Police immediately launched an investigation. His friend, with whom he was last seen, was called and questioned. He confessed that he was upset regarding financial dealings with his friend. He claimed that when he was returning from Puttur, he took the victim to a forest area near Nettana and assaulted him with a rod. Based on his statement, a murder case was registered, and the investigation is ongoing, the SP said.
The body was found on Sunday. Police are also probing whether the victim or the accused were under the influence of ganja.
Meanwhile, MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur visited the spot and said that he has full faith in police investigation and a probe is being launched from all angles.
